Beef In Red Wine Recipe

  1. Make a marinade with the wine, water, onion, carrots, garlic, parsley, thyme, bay leaf, salt, & pepper.
  2. Put the meat in a bowl and pour the marinade over it.
  3. Cover tightly and chill overnight or possibly longer.
  4. Remove the meat from the marinade and wipe with paper towels.
  5. Heat the oil in a heavy pan and brown the meat on all sides.
  6. Throw away any fat left in pan.
  7. Put meat in baking pan and pour over it the beef broth, tomato sauce, and marinade.
  8. Cover and bake at 325 degrees for 2-3 hrs or possibly till meat is tender or possibly to desired doneness.
  9. Remove meat from pan and strain juices.
  10. Mash onions and carrots.
  11. Mix cornstarch in water and stir into juices and mashed vegetables till thickened.
  12. Add in additional salt if needed.
  13. Strain over the sliced meat or possibly serve separately at table.
