Soda Bread

  1. Sift dry ingredients.
  2. Work in shortening gently.
  3. Add raisins and caraway seeds if desired.
  4. With paddle on low speed, blend in milk to make a shaggy mass.
  5. Knead 20 sec on floured surface.
  6. Divide into 1 lb (.5 kg).
  7. loaves.
  8. Dust top with flour,press a cross in top of each loaf with knife.
  9. Bake at 400-425 F for 30 min until browned and cooked through.
