Tiramisu Recipe
- 1 c strong cold expresso coffee
- 1 package Italian ladyfingers (Savoiardi)
- 3 egg yolks
- 5 T sugar
- 8 oz mascarpone cheese
- 1 T brandy or cognac liquor
- 1 c heavy whipping cream
- 1 T unsweetened cocoa powder
- In a mixing bowl, whisk egg yolks and sugar until frothy
- Add macarpone cheese and liquor and blend until smooth
- In another mixing bowl, whip cream until stiff and fold into the mascarpone mixture until well blended and smooth
- Pour the cold coffee into a dish and dip the ladyfingers very quickly into the coffee and line the bottom of a 11x7x1.5 oblong dish with the ladyfingers
- Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers
- Dip the remaining ladyfingers quickly into the coffee and arrange another layer of ladyfingers and spread the remaining mascarpone mixture
- Cover with plastic wrap and chill at least six hours
- When ready to serve, sprinkle cocoa powder through a fine sieve over the entire surface of the tiramisu
- Cut square portions onto individual dessert plates
