Fruit Cake (Dark)
- 1/2 lb. raisins or currants
- 1/2 lb. dates
- 1/2 lb. candied cherries
- 1/2 lb. candied pineapple
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1/2 lb. candied citron
- 1/4 lb. candied orange peel
- 1/4 lb. pecans
- 1/2 lb. English walnuts
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- Chip fruit and nuts
- the
- size you desire.
- Sift flour, baking powder, cloves
- and
- cinnamon
- together.
- Cream butter, sugar and eggs
- together;
- add
- flour mixture alternately with milk. Thoroughly work fruit and nut mixture into cake batter. Spoon batter into a tube pan.
- Bake in a slow oven at 300u0b0 for 1 hour, then at 350u0b0 for remainder of period about 2 hours.
