Gateau au Chocolat in a Silicone Steamer
- 40 grams Chocolate (I used dark chocolate)
- 20 grams Butter
- 40 grams Sugar
- 1 Egg
- 30 grams Pancake mix
- 1 tbsp Cocoa powder
- 1 dash Vegetable oil
- 1 Powdered sugar
- Put the chopped chocolate and butter in a heat resistant bowl and microwave for 1 minute at 600 W to melt.
- Mix Step 1 with a whisk, add the sugar, egg, pancake mix and cocoa powder, and mix well.
- Grease the silicone steamer with vegetable oil.
- Pour in the batter, hold the lid with both hands and tap the container against your work space to remove any air bubbles.
- Cover with the lids and microwave for 2 minutes.
- Let sit and steam for 3 minutes.
- This was made in a small (18 x 12 cm) steamer.
- This was made in a regular (26 x 13 cm) steamer.
- Remove the cake from the container, cut, and serve on a plate.
- Sprinkle powdered sugar to taste.
- (If you chill the cake in the fridge, the flavors will meld and be better.
- If you line the steamer with parchment paper instead of coating with vegetable oil, it'll be easier to remove the cake.
- I made this in a circular steamer.
