Hearty Golden Chowder

  1. Bring water, vegetables, chives and seasonings to boil in medium saucepan on high heat.
  2. Reduce heat to low; cover.
  3. Simmer 10 minutes.
  4. Do not drain.
  5. Melt butter in large saucepan on low heat.
  6. Stir in flour.
  7. Cook 2 minutes or until bubbly.
  8. Gradually add milk, stirring until well blended.
  9. Cook on medium heat until mixture boils and thickens, stirring constantly.
  10. Add cheese; cook until melted, stirring constantly.
  11. Add vegetable mixture; cook until heated through.
  12. Do not boil.
