North Meets South Chowder(Cold Weather Favorite)

  1. Bring to boil and cook until tender the potatoes.
  2. Drain water until 1-inch below potatoes.
  3. In frying pan, add oil and salt pork and cook until tender.
  4. Add all corn without liquid from kernel corn.
  5. Add pork and onions.
  6. Set aside 1/2 cup half and half; add rest to potatoes.
  7. To half cup, add flour and cornstarch.
  8. Stir until dissolved.
  9. Add to potatoes; cover.
  10. Cook over low heat until thickened.
  11. Serve with sprinkle of paprika.
  12. Serve cornbread with, or for something different.
  13. Put corn bread in bowl, then add chowder.
