Easy Time-Saving Simmered 'Kuromame' Black Soybeans
- 200 grams Kuromame
- 150 grams Sugar
- 800 ml Water
- 1 tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 tsp Baking soda
- Combine the water and seasonings in a pot, bring to a boil, then turn off the heat and cool.
- Rinse the beans and add them to the pot.
- Let sit overnight.
- Heat the pot once again.
- Once it comes to a boil, skim off the scum, add a drop lid, reduce to low heat and simmer for 1 hour or until it reaches your desired tenderness.
- When the beans become tender, turn off the heat, then allow them to cool in the simmered water.
- Once the flavors blend in, they're ready!
