Raisin Squares
- 1 cup seedless raisin
- 13 cup shortening
- 23 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 4 tablespoons molasses
- 1 egg
- 12 cup all-purpose flour, sifted
- 34 cup quick-cooking oats
- 14 teaspoon salt
- 14 teaspoon baking soda
- Rinse the raisins; set aside.
- Melt the shortening in a small saucepan and add the molasses.
- Add egg and beat to blend thoroughly.
- Sift together flour, salt and baking soda.
- Add the flour mixture, oats and the raisins to the first mixture, and mix well.
- Turn it all into a lightly greased 8x8-inch pan.
- Bake at moderate heat (350F) for about 25 minutes (you will see the appearance change as they are about ready).
- Cool and enjoy!
