Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

  1. First, simmer raisins in small saucepan with lid for 10 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat.
  3. Melt Crisco in 2-quart saucepan.
  4. Add sugar, oatmeal, then eggs and vanilla.
  5. Measure the hot raisin liquid into a cup.
  6. Stir in soda and add.
  7. Drain any remaining liquid from raisins.
  8. Mix in flour sifted with salt, then stir in raisins and walnuts.
  9. Drop from spoon onto lightly greased cookie sheet and bake 10 to 12 minutes in a 350u0b0 oven.
  10. Makes about 2 1/2 dozen.
