Baked Cavatelli
- 1 lb. cavatelli macaroni
- 1/4 c. butter or margarine
- 1/4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 2 c. milk
- 1/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 lb. cream-style cottage cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 Tbsp. chopped parsley
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1/4 lb. Mozzarella cheese, sliced
- Preheat oven to 350u0b0.
- Cook macaroni according to package directions.
- Make sauce.
- Melt butter in saucepan; remove from heat.
- Stir in flour, salt and pepper until smooth.
- Gradually stir in milk.
- Bring to boiling, stirring constantly.
- Reduce heat and simmer 1 minute.
- Remove from heat; add Parmesan cheese and cavatelli.
- Make cheese layer.
- In bowl combine remaining ingredients in bottom of a 2-quart baking dish.
- Spoon 1/2 cavatelli mixture.
- Layer with cheese mixture.
- Spoon remaining cavatelli.
- Arrange Mozzarella cheese on top.
- Sprinkle with paprika.
- Bake, uncovered, for 30 minutes or until hot and bubbly.
