Braised Beef with Cauliflower Mash

  1. Dust beef with seasoned flour.
  2. Heat oil in a large heavy-based pan and brown meat on all sides, for 8-10 minutes, then place into a slow cooker.
  3. Cook onions in same pan over medium heat for 5-6 minutes, until golden, then transfer to slow cooker along with tomato sauce, water, golden syrup, vinegar and Vegemite.
  4. Cover and cook on HIGH for 4 hours or LOW for 8 hours.
  5. Boil potatoes and cauliflower until tender.
  6. Drain and mash with Philly and season to taste.
  7. Keep warm.
  8. Lift cooked beef from slow cooker, cover and rest in a warm place for 20 minutes.
  9. Add cornflour mixture to sauce and continue cooking on HIGH for 20 minutes to thicken sauce.
  10. Carve the beef and serve with cauliflower mash, Brussels spouts and drizzled with sauce.
