James' Favorite French Bread Pizza
- 1 loaf French bread
- 24 slices pepperoni
- 12 red onion, sliced thin
- 12 yellow bell pepper, sliced thin
- 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
- 1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes
- 1 (6 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons fresh basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese
- Mix all the sauce ingredients together, allow to sit for 10 minutes and up to over night.
- I like it chunky, but you can choose to blend it for a smoother sauce.
- Slice the bread in half lengthwise.
- Top each half with a generous amount of the sauce.
- Layer on the toppings; start with pepperoni, then the mozzarella, and finally the vegetables; add other veggies if desired (I enjoy mushrooms).
- Dot the top of the pizza with a bit more sauce.
- Bake at 400 degrees for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the bread is crisp.
