Aunt Sherry's Strawberry Cake
- 1 (10 ounce) box frozen strawberries, thawed and drained, reserve syrup
- 1 (18 ounce) box white cake mix
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 1 (3 ounce) box strawberry Jell-O gelatin dessert
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 12 cup water
- 4 eggs
- 12 cup butter, room temperature (1 stick)
- 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature (1 package)
- 2 -3 cups powdered sugar
- 3 tablespoons strawberry syrup
- Cake.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Grease and flour 2 layer cake pans.
- In small bowl, mix together eggs, oil and water.
- In large mixer bowl, add flour to cake mix.
- Stir egg mixture, Jello, and strawberries into cake mix.
- Beat 2 minutes.
- Pour into prepared pans.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until cake tests done.
- Cool in pan and frost.
- Frosting.
- In a large bowl, beat together the butter and cream cheese with an electric mixer.
- Beat in the strawberry syrup.
- With the mixer on low speed, add the powdered sugar a cup at a time until smooth and creamy.
