Aunt Myrna's Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup shortening
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 12 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups oatmeal, quick cooking
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Beat sugars, shortening, eggs & vanilla until fluffy.
- Mix in flour, soda & salt.
- Stir in oatmeal and chips by hand.
- Let the dough rest for about 10 minutes or so to moisten the oatmeal.
- Drop on cookie sheet.
- Bake at 350 degrees, 8 minutes on bottom rack and 8 minutes on top rack.
