Blue Plate Steak Recipe
- 1 1/2 lb grnd beef
- 2 x scallions finely minced
- 1/4 c. seasoned bread crumbs
- 1 x egg
- 1 Tbsp. yellow mustard
- 1 jar beef gravy - (12 ounce)
- 1/2 c. water
- 2 tsp horseradish
- 1/2 lb fresh mushrooms sliced
- In a medium bowl, combine the grnd beef, scallions, bread crumbs, egg, and mustard, mix well.
- Shape into four 1/2-inch-thick oval patties.
- Coat a large skillet with nonstick cooking spray and preheat over medium-high heat.
- Place the patties in the skillet and cook for 3 to 4 min per side, or possibly till no pink remains.
- Add in the gravy, water, horseradish, and mushrooms and cook for 4 to 5 min, or possibly till the mushrooms are tender, stirring occasionally.
- This recipe yields 4 servings.
- Comments: You can really make this your own by adding garlic, caraway seeds, or possibly burger seasoning mix to the meat mix - or possibly a splash of wine to the gravy.
- And for a truly all-American diner dish, serve it with mashed potatoes and peas.
