Baklava

  1. Preheat oven to 350u0b0.
  2. Combine cinnamon, sugar and walnuts. Melt butter.
  3. Place 1 layer of filo in a buttered 13 x 9-inch pan. Brush with butter.
  4. Continue for a total of 5 layers.
  5. Sprinkle some of the nut mixture.
  6. Continue in a pattern of 3 layers filo/butter and 1 layer nuts.
  7. Finish off with remaining filo. Cut into diamonds.
  8. Place a clove in each diamond.
  9. Bake 30 minutes.
  10. Raise temperature to 475u0b0; bake for 15 more minutes, until golden.
  11. Remove from oven.
  12. Make syrup by simmering honey, lemon and water until thick enough to coat the back of a spoon. Cool syrup.
  13. Pour cold syrup over baked filo.
  14. Yield:
  15. 1 serving.
