Meaty Chili With Mushroom
- 1 lb bulk Italian sausage
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup onion
- 1 lb mushroom, sliced
- 46 ounces vegetable juice
- 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 12 teaspoon dried basil
- 12 teaspoon pepper
- NOTE: For the vegetable juice, I use V8 Juice.
- In a Dutch oven or soup kettle, cook the sausage, beef and onion over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink and onion is tender; drain.
- Stir in the mushrooms, V8 juice, tomato paste and seasonings.
- Bring to a boil, Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1 hour.
- Garnish with sour cream if desired.
