Sausage In The Pot

  1. Cut X's in sausage at 1-inch intervals.
  2. Brown sausage, scored side down, in oil in kettle, turning often.
  3. Add to kettle the potatoes, carrots, turnips, celery and onions.
  4. Add water.
  5. Add parsley sprigs, peppercorns and bay leaf.
  6. Bring to boil; reduce heat and cover.
  7. Simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until vegetables are tender.
  8. Remove sausage to center of serving platter; arrange vegetables around sausage.
  9. Serve with a loaf of crusty bread.
  10. Serves 6.
