Braised Diced Pork and Daikon Radish with Chinese 5-Spice
- 1/2 small Daikon radish
- 150 grams Diced pork
- 50 ml Sake
- 1 tbsp Mirin
- 1 tbsp Sugar
- 1/2 tsp Chinese 5-spice powder
- 1 tbsp Soy sauce
- Peel the daikon radish and cut into bite-sized pieces.
- If the diced pork seems too big, cut into bite-sized pieces as well.
- Parboil the daikon radish.
- Heat the skillet over low to medium heat, add the diced pork from Step 1, and pan-fry while rolling them around the skillet until browned on all sides.
- Add the daikon radish from Step 2 in the skillet and pan-fry over medium heat about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the Chinese 5-spice powder, sake, mirin, and sugar into the Step 4 skillet, and cook it over high heat for about 1-2 minutes.
- Cover the Step 5 skillet and turn down the heat to low.
- Simmer until the liquid is reduce to about 1/3.
- Drizzle the soy sauce into the Step 6 skillet.
- Move the skillet, so that the ingredients are evenly glazed with soy sauce.
- Ta-dah.
- Easy!
