Candy Cane Lane Cookies

  1. Preheat the oven to 325F.
  2. Line a baking sheet with a Silpat Non-Stick Baking Mat or parchment paper.
  3. Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt; set aside.
  4. In a medium bowl, cream together the melted butter, brown sugar and white sugar until well blended.
  5. Beat in the vanilla, egg, and egg yolk until light and creamy.
  6. Mix in the sifted ingredients until just blended.
  7. Stir in the 1/4 cup sprinkles and nonpareils by hand.
  8. Using a medium cookie scoop, drop a heaping amount of cookie dough onto the prepared cookie sheets.
  9. Cookies should be about 3 inches apart.
  10. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges are lightly toasted.
  11. Remove the cookies from the oven, and carefully place the assorted candies on top to decorate each cookie.
  12. Cool on baking sheets for several minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
