Vintage cheddar cheese burgers recipe
- 1 kg (2.2lbs) ground beef
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.25 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 splash of Worcestershire Sauce
- 200 g (7.1oz) vintage cheddar cheese
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 handful lettuce leaves
- 2 large beef tomatoes, sliced crosswise
- 2 gherkins thinly sliced
- 1 onion thinly sliced
- 6 burger buns split and toasted
- 1 cup ketchup and mustard to taste
- Season the ground beef with the salt, pepper and Worcestershire Sauce being sure to really mix the flavourings throughout the meat.
- Make 4 - 6 patties and form a well in each.
- Put about 1 tablespoon of grated cheese into each well and use some of the meat mixture to cover it up.
- Fry or cook over a flaming BBQ for about 4 minutes on each side for a medium cooked burger.
- Make up your burger stack using the lettuce, onion, tomato and gherkin and add ketchup or mustard to taste.
