Turkey Chili
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 small clove garlic, finely chopped
- 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1/2 lb. raw ground turkey meat, thawed if frozen
- 1 can (1 lb.) plum tomatoes (2 c.)
- 1 Tbsp. chili powder or to taste
- 1 tsp. flour
- 1 tsp. ground cumin
- 1/4 tsp. ground ginger
- salt and pepper
- 1/2 can (20 oz.) kidney beans (1 c. approximately)
- Saute the onion and garlic in the oil in a medium-size saucepan until tender, about 2 minutes.
- Add the turkey and cook, stirring, until all signs of pink have disappeared and meat starts to brown slightly.
- Add the tomatoes with their juice, chili powder, flour, cumin, ginger, salt and pepper.
- Bring to a boil; cover and simmer 30 minutes.
- Stir in the beans and reheat.
