Walnut Crown Coffee Cake
- 1/3 c. ground walnuts
- 3 Tbsp. sifted light brown sugar
- 2 c. sifted flour
- 1 3/4 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 2/3 c. melted butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- Combine walnuts and sugar in a bowl.
- Butter a 2 1/2-quart Kugelhupf or Bundt pan well and coat it with the walnut and sugar mixture.
- Sift together dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt).
- Mix egg, buttermilk, butter and vanilla in large bowl.
- Beat in flour mixture until batter is smooth.
- Pour into pan and bake in moderate oven (350u0b0) for one hour or until a cake tester comes out clean.
- The cake may fall slightly.
