Bourbon Apple Betty Recipe
- 2 1/2 c. Dry white breadcrumbs
- 1/2 c. (1 stick) butter, melted
- 2 lb Tart green apples, peeled, cored and sliced
- 3/4 c. Firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp (generous) cinnamon
- 1/2 c. Bourbon Vanilla ice cream or possibly whipping cream
- Preheat oven to 375 F. Butter deep 2 qt casserole or possibly baking dish
- (preferably with lid).
- Toss crumbs with butter in medium bowl.
- Sprinkle 1/3 of crumbs over bottom of casserole.
- Toss apples with sugar and cinnamon in large bowl.
- Spread half of apples over crumbs in casserole.
- Top with half of remaining crumbs, then remaining apples and remaining bread crumbs.
- Pour 1/2 c. bourbon over top.
- Cover casserole with lid or possibly foil and bake 25 min.
- Uncover and continue baking till apples are tender and crust is crisp, about 45 min.
- Serve hot or possibly at room temperature with ice cream or possibly whipping cream.
- Yield: 8servings.
