Apple Fritters

  1. Core apples and cut each apple crosswise into 6 slices.
  2. Set slices aside.
  3. In large bowl combine flour, 1 tbsp powdered sugar, lemon peel and baking powder.
  4. In a medium bowl use a wire whisk or rotary beater to beat egg, milk and oil until combined.
  5. Add egg mixture all at once to flour mixture; beat till smooth.
  6. Using a fork dip apple rings into batter; draining off excess batter.
  7. Fry 2-3 fritters at a time in a deep hot fat (365 degrees) for 1 minute on each side or until golden brown, turning once with a slotted spoon.
  8. Drain on paper towels.
  9. Repeat with remaining fritters.
  10. Sprinkle fritters with powdered sugar.
  11. Cool on wire racks.
  12. To serve, thread fritter onto cinnamon sticks.
