Born in the USA? Glutinous Rice Flour Cake

  1. Melt the unsalted butter and mix with the granulated sugar.
  2. Mix in the vanilla essence, then the eggs, mochiko, baking powder and milk in that order.
  3. Pour the mixture into a cake tin greased with butter (not listed in ingredients) and spoon the bean paste over the top.
  4. (The bean paste will naturally sink into the batter while baking.)
  5. Sprinkle some black sesame seeds over the top.
  6. Bake the cake in an oven preheated to 180C (350F) for 40-50 minutes.
  7. Top with whipped cream if you like.
