Apple Plum Chutney Recipe
- 1 c. water
- 2/3 c. sugar
- 6 Tbsp. red wine vinegar
- 1 Tbsp. chopped peeled fresh ginger
- 1 x garlic clove chopped
- 1 1/3 lb red plums halved, pitted, and cut into 1/2" cubes
- 1 lrg Granny Smith apple unpeeled, cored, and cut into 1/2" cubes
- 2 tsp grated orange peel
- 1/4 tsp grnd cinnamon
- Combine 1 c. water and sugar in heavy large saucepan over high heat.
- Bring to boil, stirring till sugar dissolves.
- Add in vinegar, ginger, garlic, half of plums, and apple.
- Boil 5 min.
- Add in remaining plums, orange peel, and cinnamon.
- Bring to gentle boil; cook till syrupy, stirring occasionally, about 12 min.
- Cold to room temperature.
- (Can be made 3 days ahead.
- Cover and chill.
- Bring to room temperature before serving.)
- This recipe yields about 2 c..
- Comments: Try this with grilled lamb chops, pork, or possibly chicken.
- Yield: 2 c.
