Bayou Hot Slaw Recipe

  1. Place first 5 ingredients in a large salad bowl and mix well.
  2. In a saucepan, heat oil and bay leaf and stir in the flour, but do not let it brown.
  3. Add in sugar and water, stirring till thickened.
  4. Pour in the vinegar and spices and stir till you have a thick sauce.
  5. Cold to lukewarm and pour over the slaw.
  6. Toss and mix well.
  7. Refrigerateand serve cool.
  8. If you want a hotter slaw, add in more cayenne.
  9. Serves 6.
