Flavored Apple Jam/Preserves/Jelly
- 8 Apples
- 2 cups Water
- 5- 1/2 cups Sugar
- 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice Or Citric Acid
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon Powder
- 1/2 teaspoons Cardamom Powder
- 1/2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
- Peel and coarsely chop the apples.
- In a large thick-bottomed pan, add chopped apples and water.
- Cook over medium heat until apples are soft and most of the water is absorbed.
- Add sugar, lemon juice, and optional spices.
- Cook over low-medium heat for 20-30 minutes, stirring every now and then.
- Mash the apples with a potato masher to your required consistency.
- When the moisture is absorbed and the mixture starts to stick to the bottom, keep stirring the mixture with spatula.
- Check for sweetness; add more if desired.
- Jam will be ready when, it becomes thick and forms like dough.
- It will take around 25-30 minutes.
- If you are not sure when to stop cooking, check the taste and you will know.
- Turn off the heat and let it cool.
- Store in an airtight container.
- Enjoy some bread with homemade apple jam.
