Paul's Italian-Style Meatloaf
- 1/2 pounds beef ground
- 1/2 pounds turkey ground
- 1/2 cup seasoned dry bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large eggs
- 1/4 teaspoon fennel seeds slightly crushed
- 1/2 teaspoon basil dried
- 1/2 teaspoon oregano dried
- 1 teaspoons salt and black pepper (to taste)
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 1 small yellow onion minced
- 1 teaspoon garlic minced
- 2 cups marinara sauce bottled or homemade
- Pre-heat the oven to 350F.
- Put a cookie sheet in oven while preheating.
- In a large bowl, mix together the beef, turkey, breadcrumbs, milk, egg and herbs.
- Heat the oil in a skillet.
- Add the onion and garlic.
- Cook until just soft.
- Mix into the meat mixture.
- Put mixture into a loaf pan.
- Place loaf pan on preheated cookie sheet and bake for 1 hour or until firm in the middle.
- Cool slightly and slice.
- Heat marinara sauce, and top slices of meatloaf with it.
