Italian Tomato Sauce(Great Sauce With A Slightly Sweet Flavor)
- 3 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1 c. chopped red onion
- 1 Tbsp. minced garlic
- 1 c. chopped green pepper
- 1 (1 lb. 3 oz.) can tomato puree
- 2 Tbsp. dry red wine
- 1 1/2 c. freshly chopped tomatoes (plum tomatoes are best)
- 1/4 tsp. black pepper
- 2 tsp. basil
- 2 bay leaves
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. oregano
- 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. chopped parsley
- Saute in a large kettle the oil, red onion, garlic, green pepper, basil, bay leaves, salt and oregano.
- When onions become clear and soft, add the following ingredients: tomato puree, tomato paste, red wine, chopped tomatoes, sugar and black pepper.
