  1. Saute in a large kettle the oil, red onion, garlic, green pepper, basil, bay leaves, salt and oregano.
  2. When onions become clear and soft, add the following ingredients: tomato puree, tomato paste, red wine, chopped tomatoes, sugar and black pepper.
