Nut Pepper Biscotti
- 1 3/4 c. unbleached flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 tsp. coarsely ground pepper
- 1 cube butter
- 2 eggs
- 3 tsp. grated orange peel
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 1/2 c. chopped nuts
- Combine the dry ingredients and set aside.
- Cream the butter until light. Gradually add sugar.
- Mix in eggs, one at a time. Add orange peel, vanilla and nuts. Add dry ingredients and mix until blended. Chill in refrigerator at least 1 hour. Grease and flour baking sheet. Divide and shape dough into 1 1/2-inch wide logs. Bake in preheated 350u0b0 oven until light brown, about 20 minutes. Cool slightly and cut on diagonal into 1/2-inch wide slices.
- Turn cut side down and bake until golden, about 15 minutes.
- Cool. These freeze well.
