Santa Fe Turkey Burger
- 1 medium jalapeno pepper
- 1 medium red bell pepper
- 1 (20-ounce) package ground turkey
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon finely chopped fresh garlic
- 1/3 cup chopped fresh cilantro leaves
- 8 (3/4-ounce) slices Land O Lakes Deli White American
- 4 hamburger buns, sliced
- Heat gas grill to medium or charcoal grill until coals are ash white.
- Place whole jalapeno and red bell pepper on grill.
- Cook, turning often, 8-10 minutes or until most of the skin is blackened.
- Cool 10 minutes.
- Remove stems and seeds of peppers.
- Slice jalapeno into 12 thin strips.
- Cut bell pepper into 8 pieces.
- Set aside.
- Combine turkey, cumin, salt, pepper, garlic and cilantro in bowl.
- Shape mixture into 4 patties.
- Flatten each patty to 4 inches.
- Place patties onto grill.
- Grill, turning once, 12-16 minutes or until internal temperature reaches at least 165F and meat is no longer pink in center.
- Top each burger with 2 slices cheese.
- Continue grilling 1-2 minutes or until cheese is melted.
- Place burgers onto bottom half of buns.
- Top each with 3 slices grilled jalapeno pepper and 2 slices grilled red bell pepper.
- Top with remaining half of buns.
