Hearty Meatball Stew

  1. Shape sausage into balls.
  2. In large skillet, brown meatballs in oil, carefully turning to brown evenly.
  3. Remove meatballs from skillet.
  4. Reserve 2 tablespoons meat drippings in skillet; stir in flour and pepper. Gradually add 1 cup water and chicken broth. Cook until mixture boils and thickens, stirring constantly.
  5. Add carrots, celery, onion and meatballs.
  6. Simmer uncovered 20 to 30 minutes.
  7. Add corn; heat thoroughly.
  8. In large saucepan, heat 2 cups water to boiling; add cabbage.
  9. Cover and cook 8 minutes or until crisp-tender; drain.
  10. Arrange cabbage on serving platter surrounding stew.
  11. Makes 6 servings.
