Italian Meat Pie
- 1 pound Ground Beef
- 1/2 cups Italian Bread Crumbs
- 1/2 - 8oz Cans Tomato Sauce
- 1/4 Cup Chopped Onion
- 1/4 Cup Diced Green Bell Pepper
- 1 1/2 Tsp Salt
- 1/8 Tsp Pepper
- 1/8 Tsp Oregano
- Filling
- 1 1/2 Cup Minute Rice
- 1 1/2 8oz Cans Tomato Sauce
- 1/2 Tsp Salt
- 1 Cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- 1 Cup Water
- Topping
- 1 Cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Mix crust ingredients and press into the bottom and sides of pie dish.
- Mix all filling ingredients and pour in center.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 min.
- Remove from oven, remove foil and top with additional 1 cup of cheese.
- Return to oven until cheese is melted.
- Let sit 5 minutes before cutting.
- Using a leaner ground beef will produce less fat, but it can also be drained carefully before adding cheese topping.
