Mud Pie

  1. Preheat oven to 375u0b0.
  2. Crush wafers and add melted butter. Mix well with a fork and press into a 9-inch pie plate.
  3. Bake for 10 minutes.
  4. Cool.
  5. Spread ice cream carefully onto crust.
  6. Freeze 1 1/2 hours or until solid.
  7. In a saucepan, cook cocoa, sugar, 1/3 cup cream and butter until it is smooth and boils.
  8. Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla.
  9. Cool but do not let mixture get too hard to pour.
  10. Pour sauce over frozen ice cream base.
  11. Freeze at least 1 1/2 hours.
  12. Before serving, whip remaining cream with 2 tablespoons sugar until soft peaks form.
  13. Add remaining vanilla and spread over pie.
  14. Garnish with chocolate shavings.
