All-Time Favorite Apple Crisp - Apple Crisp

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees (175 C.).
  2. Lightly coat a 13" x 9" baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  3. Mix 2 tbsp (30 ml) brown sugar, 2 tbsp (30 ml) flour, 1/2 tsp (2 ml) cinnamon, and 1/4 tsp (1 ml) salt in processor bowl.
  4. Add vanilla to food processor and pulse to combine, about 10 seconds or put in a medium bowl and work with ahnds until well mixed.
  5. Put lemon juice in large bowl.
  6. Peel apples and cut into 1/4 inch slices (you need about 7 cups).
  7. Add to bowl, tossing with juice frequently.
  8. Sprinkle with brown sugar mixture and toss until evenly coated.
  9. Spread in baking dish.
  10. Combine oats, remaining brown sugar, remaining flour, remaining cinnamon, and remaining salt in medium bowl.
  11. Using your fingers, work margarine into flour mixture until coarse crumbs appear.
  12. Sprinkle over apples.
  13. Bake until topping is golden and apples are tender, about 40 minutes.
  14. Serve with scoops of frozen yogurt.
