Eight Layer Casserole
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
- 1 tsp. dried basil, crushed
- 1/2 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 c. dairy sour cream
- 1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese (4 oz.)
- 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 c. milk
- 2 Tbsp. chopped onions
- 6 oz. noodles, cooked and drained
- 1 (10 oz.) pkg. chopped spinach, cooked and well drained
- In a large skillet, cook beef until brown; drain fat.
- Stir in tomato sauce, basil, sugar, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
- Bring to boiling point.
- Reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes, uncovered. Combine sour cream, cream cheese, milk and onion.
- In a 2-quart casserole or 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking dish, layer half noodles, half meat, half cream cheese mixture and all the spinach.
- Top with remaining meat and noodles.
- Cover, bake in a 350u0b0 oven for 45 minutes.
- Chill remaining cream cheese mixture.
- Spread with remaining cream cheese mixture.
- Top with Cheddar cheese and bake, uncovered, for 10 minutes.
- Serves 6.
