The Chewy Chocolate Cookie

  1. Cream together butter or margarine and sugar in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well.
  3. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt; blend into creamed mixture.
  4. Stir in nuts, if desired.
  5. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.
  6. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-9 minutes.
  7. (Do not overbake.
  8. Cookies will be soft.
  9. They will puff during baking, flatten upon cooling.)
  10. Cool on cookie sheet until set, about 1 minute; remove to wire rack to cool completely.
