German Chocolate Caramel Squares
- 1 (14 oz.) bag caramels (about 40)
- 5 Tbsp. canned milk
- 1 box German chocolate cake mix
- 3/4 c. melted margarine
- 5 Tbsp. canned milk
- 1 c. nut meats, chopped
- 1 c. semi-sweet chocolate bits (I like the milk chocolate bits)
- 1 c. butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. bread flour
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. milk
- Cream butter and sugar.
- Sift flour, salt and baking powder together.
- Add flour mixture to butter and sugar along with eggs, milk and vanilla; mix well.
- Chill dough about one hour.
- Roll very thin and use a tin can to cut out cookie shapes.
- Bake on greased cookie sheet at 425u0b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
- Sprinkle baked cookie with a little sugar.
- Yields 6 to 7 dozen.
