New York Sour

  1. Pour the whiskey, juice, and syrup into a mixing glass.
  2. Add large cold ice cubes and shake vigorously.
  3. Strain over large cold new ice cubes into a rocks glass.
  4. Carefully float the wine on top (see page 23).
  5. Garnish with the orange and cherry.
  6. Dominant Flavors: whiskey, citrus, and stone fruits
  7. Body: crisp, medium
  8. Dryness: medium to dry, with crisp acidity
  9. Complexity: medium
  10. Accentuating or Contrasting Flavors: oak and wine tannins
  11. Finish: short crisp citrus followed by red wine tannins
  12. Glass: rocks
