Fried Bread With a Twist
- 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp salted butter
- 1 tsp ground nut oil, (plus 4 more tablespoons for frying bread)
- 4 slices of white bread
- 1 tbsp of your favourite cheese (per slice)
- In a pan heat the butter and oil.
- Add the onions and salt and fry for 2-4 minutes until the onion has softened.
- Once fried set to one side until ready to use.
- Cut the crusts of the bread, then using a rolling pin, flatten the sliced bread as much as you can.
- Using the fat from the onions, brush the bread slices.
- Using your favourite cheese add to bread
- Then add the onions on tip of cheese
- Roll it carefully so it doesn't break.
- Use toothpicks to hold it all together.
- Then on the outside brush the oil from the onion.
- Add 4 tablespoons of oil to a frying pan and heat.
- Add the bread in and fry for about 3-5 minutes on low heat or until it is golden brown.
- Turn a few times.
- Once done remove from pan and place on kitchen roll to absorb some of the fat.
- Serve immediately.
