Ginger Crinkles
- 2 c. sifted flour
- 3 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1 1/3 c. sugar, divided
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1/4 c. light molasses
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- Sift flour, soda, salt and spices; set aside.
- In a large bowl, use electric mixer at medium speed and gradually add 1 cup sugar to the shortening, creaming until light and fluffy.
- Blend in molasses and eggs.
- At low speed, beat in flour mixture until combined. Refrigerate 1 hour.
- Shape dough into 1-inch balls; roll in remaining 1/3 cup sugar.
- Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake in 350u0b0 oven for 8 to 10 minutes, until golden brown. Let cool 1 minute before removing to wire rack to cool.
