Danish Pastry Apple Bars

  1. In medium bowl, combine flour and salt.
  2. Cut in Crisco.
  3. Beat egg yolk in measuring cup; add enough milk to make 2/3 cup liquid. Mix well.
  4. Stir egg mixture into flour mixture.
  5. On floured surface, roll half the dough to a 17 x 12-inch rectangle.
  6. Line a 15 x 10 x 1-inch baking pan with half the pastry.
  7. Sprinkle with cornflakes; top with apples.
  8. Combine sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over apples.
  9. Roll remaining dough to make top crust; place over apples.
  10. Seal edges of dough.
  11. Cut slits in top for escape of steam.
  12. Beat egg white until frothy.
  13. Brush on crust.
  14. Bake at 375u0b0 for 50 minutes.
  15. While still warm, drizzle with confectioners sugar glaze.
  16. Cut into bars.
