Fried Cabbage with Smoked Sausage

  1. On medium high heat, In a skillet or electric skillet, saute bacon to render out the fat, but do not discard.
  2. Remove bacon and drain on paper towels.
  3. Lower heat to medium and Saute onions until soft and caramelized.
  4. Add sliced smoked sausage and brown slightly.
  5. Add bacon back to mixture.

  7. When bacon and sausage is cooked, add chopped cabbage, salt and pepper and cook stirring often for about 5-10 minutes.
  8. Longer if needed if not using broth.
  9. If using, add beef broth for a richer taste.
  10. Cook until cabbage is tender or slightly has a bite to it.
  11. It depends on preference.
  12. Add seasonings to taste.
