Swirl Cobbler
- 1/3 cup margarine
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups water
- 1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/3 cup milk
- 2 cups well drained berries or chopped peaches
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- Heat oven to 350 degrees.
- Melt the margarine in a 13x9x2 inch baking dish.
- Heat sugar and water in a saucepan (can use part juice if you have it) until sugar melts.
- Cut shortening into flour until particles are like fine crumbs.
- Add milk, and stir with a fork only until dough leaves side of bowl.
- Turn out onto lightly floured board; knead 2 or 3 times.
- Roll dough out into a large rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
- Sprinkle cinnamon over fruit; then sprinkle fruit evenly over dough.
- Roll up like a jelly roll and pinch edges together.
- Cut into 1/2 inch slices. Place in the pan with melted margarine.
- Pour sugar syrup carefully around rolls.
- Bake for 45 minutes.
