Swirl Cobbler

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Melt the margarine in a 13x9x2 inch baking dish.
  3. Heat sugar and water in a saucepan (can use part juice if you have it) until sugar melts.
  4. Cut shortening into flour until particles are like fine crumbs.
  5. Add milk, and stir with a fork only until dough leaves side of bowl.
  6. Turn out onto lightly floured board; knead 2 or 3 times.
  7. Roll dough out into a large rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  8. Sprinkle cinnamon over fruit; then sprinkle fruit evenly over dough.
  9. Roll up like a jelly roll and pinch edges together.
  10. Cut into 1/2 inch slices. Place in the pan with melted margarine.
  11. Pour sugar syrup carefully around rolls.
  12. Bake for 45 minutes.
