Sauerkraut Balls Appetizer Recipe
- 8 ounce. sausage meat, crumbled
- 1 (14 ounce.) can sauerkraut, well liquid removed & snipped
- 3 ounce. cream cheese, softened
- 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 2 Large eggs, well beaten
- 1/4 c. finely minced onion
- 2 tbsp. dry bread crumbs
- 2 tbsp. minced parsley
- Garlic salt to taste
- 1/4 c. flour
- 1/4 c. lowfat milk
- Additional c. fine bread crumbs
- Cook sausage and onion till meat is brown; drain.
- Add in sauerkraut and 2 Tbsp.
- bread crumbs.
- Combine cream cheese, parsley, mustard, garlic salt and pepper.
- Stir in sauerkraut mix.
- Chill.
- Shape into small balls and coat with flour, add in lowfat milk to beaten Large eggs.
- Dip balls into egg/lowfat milk mix and roll in the additional bread crumbs.
- Fry in deep fat to brown.
- Bake in 375 degree oven for 15 to 20 min.
- Can be frzn after the deep frying and then baked later.
- Makes 25 balls.
