Swiss Chocolate Walnut Sliced Cookies

  1. Sift flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon onto waxed paper. Beat butter, sugar and egg in a large bowl until fluffy.
  2. Stir in chocolate and vanilla.
  3. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Refrigerate at least one hour. Divide dough into quarters.
  5. Spread walnuts on waxed paper.
  6. Shape each quarter of dough into a roll 1-inch in diameter.
  7. Roll in walnuts, coating well.
  8. Wrap each roll in waxed paper.
  9. Refrigerate until firm.
  10. Cut into 1/4-inch slices.
  11. Arrange on lightly greased cookie sheets, 1/2 inch apart.
  12. Bake at 400u0b0 for 6 minutes or until firm.
  13. Cool on wire racks.
  14. Ice with icing (optional).
