Cheddar Apple Sausage Mac
- 1 lb rigatoni pasta
- 12 ounces apple chicken sausage, sliced
- 3 tablespoons butter, divided
- 2 granny smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced
- 12 small sweet onion, sliced
- 18 teaspoon salt
- 18 teaspoon pepper
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 12 cups milk
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 3 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
- 12 cup panko breadcrumbs
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Coat a broiler safe 9x13 baking dish with non stick spray.
- Cook rigatoni.
- Cook apple chicken sausages; set aside.
- Add 1 tablespoon butter to skillet and saute apples and onion for 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat; add cooked sausage, salt and pepper.
- Add to drained pasta in pot.
- Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons butter in a medium sauce pot.
- Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.
- Pour in milk and Dijon mustard and bring to a simmer.
- Cook 3 minutes, whisking occasionally.
- Remove from heat.
- Whisk in shredded cheddar cheese.
- Add to pasta pot.
- Pour mixture into a 9x13 baking dish.
- Top with Panko bread crumbs.
- Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 minutes.
- Turn oven up to broil; broil for 3 minutes to brown the breadcrumbs.
